Woods Foodservice enlists three top chefs to demo at its Market Day

Woods Foodservice has announced the return of its Market Day for 2025, an event designed to connect chefs, suppliers and food enthusiasts in a day of culinary inspiration.

This year’s Market Day will take place on 16 September from 11am to 4pm at Woods Foodservice’s warehouse in Uxbridge.

It will include live cooking demonstrations from three of the UK’s top chefs: Chetan Sharma of BiBi, Tom Brown of Pearly Queen and Adam Byatt of Trinity Restaurants.

Each chef will offer a glimpse into their culinary world, sharing their philosophies and techniques with a live audience. Tom Brown’s culinary philosophy, centred on “craveable deliciousness” is a direct result of his upbringing in Cornwall and his time working with chefs like Nathan Outlaw.

“Market Day excites me because it’s a great chance to meet and hopefully inspire new people that haven’t seen you cook first hand,” said Brown. “The main takeaway is that food is about enjoyment!”

Adam Byatt, whose restaurant Trinity has held a Michelin star for over a decade, is equally enthusiastic: “I am excited to be at Market Day – I have not cooked live for an audience for many years and I’m super excited to meet everyone and to cook IRL!” Byatt will be preparing two dishes that showcase seasonality and classical cookery, emphasises his product-first philosophy, shaped by his foundational experiences at Claridge’s and The Square. “Consistency is king and consistency takes showing up every day,” he said.

Chetan Sharma is known for his critically acclaimed Indian-inspired cuisine at BiBi and his approach is rooted in sustainability, zero-waste practices and a deep connection to his heritage. He said: “My dishes are always full of flavour, drawing on memories I have from the Indian subcontinent, both first-hand and shared.”

Sharma hopes to impart the message that “ethnic food can put ingredients on a pedestal in the same way that European food is so famed for” and encourage the next generation of chefs to travel and experience food in its native environment.

Beyond chef demos, Market Day 2025 will offer an array of attractions and activities, including more than 30 exhibitors and complimentary food and beverages, with HG Walter serving up burgers and hot dogs, Brucan Pubs offering fresh salads, Jude’s providing ice cream, and a bus bar serving a wide range of drinks. In addition, Monin will be on hand to craft both cocktails and mocktails.

Visitors to Market Day will also be able to test their skills with mini golf, snap a memory in the photo booth, and enter a raffle for a chance to win a grand prize of a £500 voucher for Adam Byatt’s Trinity Restaurants.

There will also be an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Woods Foodservice operation with guided tours of the Caterforce member’s warehouse.

It is free for chefs to attend but registration is essential: https://about.woodsfoodservice.co.uk/market-day-2025/
