Unitas appoints Phil Dawson as foodservice trading controller

Unitas Wholesale has appointed Phil Dawson to the new role of trading controller for foodservice within its out-of-home team.

Dawson (right) was previously trading manager (foodservice) at AF Blakemore & Son, where he spent two-and-a-half years. Prior to that, he had various roles in the foodservice sector, including group category buyer at Bako North Western Group.

John Kinney, managing director of Unitas Wholesale, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Phil to Unitas at such an important time in our development as we continue to reshape the organisation. Phil will be an excellent addition to our business and has the skills and experience that we are looking for to develop our foodservice offering.”

Unitas has also announced that Michael Skelton, CEO of S&W Wholesale, has taken the decision to resign from the Unitas board, which he joined in November 2021.

Skelton (left) explained: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as a non-executive member director of Unitas Wholesale; however, it is now time for me to focus my time and attention on the S&W business – we have some extensive development and growth plans during the next 12-18 months, following our move to an Employee Ownership Trust model operating for the benefit of the employees.”

He added: “I wish John Kinney, the board, executive and central team at Unitas Wholesale a successful future and look forward to continuing our work together as a member of the group.”
