Thomas Ridley Foodservice announces winners of Staff Awards

Thomas Ridley Foodservice recently held its annual Staff Awards at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

“We strongly believe in celebrating our people, so our annual celebration party is a great opportunity to do just this by reflecting on the past year and announcing the winners of our annual staff awards,” said a company spokesperson.

Three of the awards were voted for by the wholesaler’s customers and others were voted for by its staff.

“We think that gaining peer feedback makes these awards even more meaningful to the recipients, and really highlights those who leave a lasting, positive impact on others,” commented the spokesperson.

The top award, Employee of the Year, went to Laura Gilbey-Spring, who is Thomas Ridley’s only female driver. She also won Transport Colleague of the Year, voted for by customers.

Other awards:

Telesales Person of the Year: Lizzie Game

Sales Person of the Year: Maria Hartland, area sales manager covering Hertfordshire, Stevenage and Huntingdon.

Business Support Colleague of the Year: Dawn Taylor, pricing & promotions administrator, who has worked for Thomas Ridley for 30 years.

Star of the Year: Charly Leathers, who started at Thomas Ridley picking orders in the main warehouse and has recently joined the buying team.

Warehouse Colleague of the Year: Alistair Marshall, warehouse operator.

Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award: A special award, voted for by employees, this went to Steve Gooderham, a warehouse forklift driver, whose efforts and observations as a first aider helped to save a colleague’s life when he was in the early stages of a heart attack whilst at work.
