Swizzels marks 70 years of Refreshers with launch of Tropical bar
Swizzels is marking the 70th anniversary of its iconic Refreshers brand with the creation of a new Tropical Chew Bar.
Featuring a mango and pineapple flavour, the latest addition to the Refreshers single confectionery line-up is vegan-friendly. Each 18g bar (rsp 20p) is available to wholesalers in price-marked boxes of 60.
The Refreshers countlines range includes the original lemon chew bar, as well as strawberry, sour apple and cherry cola variations. The sweet maker’s range also includes Refreshers stickpacks in the original lemon and strawberry flavours and the Refreshers Choos hanging bags in five fizzy flavours – lemon, strawberry, apple, pineapple, and raspberry.
Clare Newton, trade & shopper marketing manager at Swizzels, said: “Refreshers is a much-loved brand that’s stood the test of time, continuing to win over fans with its unmistakable flavour and remarkable fizz. We wanted to bring a new twist to the nation’s favourite chew bar to mark 70 years since its creation and highlight how it’s still an iconic and ever-evolving brand that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
“Tropical flavours are having a real moment with consumers this year, which is why we’ve opted for a mango and pineapple flavour, helping retailers to appeal to demand for a fresh twist on classic confectionery.”
Swizzels is also marking the milestone with the launch of The Great Community Refresh – a nationwide initiative which invites people to nominate a community project, group or asset in need of a ‘refresh’. This might include a community garden that needs reviving, a mural to brighten a community centre or a local group in need of new supplies.
Seven winners will receive a prize of £1,000 to make their community refresh a reality, bringing people together and giving back to those who have supported Swizzels for decades.
