Sterling signs up John D Forrest and selects TWC as data partner

John D Forrest, located in Dundee, has joined Sterling Supergroup.

Founded in 1906, John D Forrest was acquired approximately 55 years ago by Gordon Hume, who, alongside his son Steven Hume and wife Alison Hume, developed it into the successful operation it is today.

While egg sales have always been at the core of the business, the range has evolved to include frozen, chilled, and ambient products, enabling the wholesaler  to serve a broad customer base of small shops, butchers, cafes and restaurants.

Director Steven Hume said: “We are very much looking forward to working closely with Sterling Supergroup and its members as we continue to grow and develop the next chapter of our business.”

In other news, Sterling Supergroup has selected TWC Group as its data partner for the launch of Sphere, a new wholesale shipments data & insight programme.

Sphere is designed to help the organisation’s members and suppliers track performance, identify growth opportunities and make smarter, faster and more confident commercial decisions to improve sales.

At the heart of the programme is Sterling’s wholesalers’ shipments data, made available to participating suppliers for the first time through TWC’s SmartView sales reporting platform.

This Sphere data service will enable participating wholesale members and suppliers to:

• Track group performance

• Identify emerging trends

• Spot growth opportunities across the group and at individual participating members

• Benchmark member performance versus group average

• Understand volume and value sales within different reporting timescales

• Allow suppliers to invest in quantifiable targeted sales growth opportunities with participating members

• Provides suppliers with a return on their data investment.

By sharing wholesale shipments data on TWC Group’s SmartView reporting platform, Sphere gives

The Sphere service is expected to launch in the summer.
