SPAR Scotland to hold virtual trade show on 5 November

SPAR Scotland will host a virtual trade show and deliver a business update on 5 November. The theme for the event is ‘2020 Vision’.

More than 150 suppliers have registered to attend, many of which will take part in the main stage arena. They will have a chance to promote NPD, discuss new ways of working, and share industry and category knowledge. Independent SPAR retailers, CJ Lang’s own store managers and head office staff, industry bodies, and SPAR UK will also be present.

Colin McLean, CEO of CJ Lang & Son, will give a trading update, including details of full financial year results.

In addition, representatives of SPAR International will present valuable COVID-19 operational learnings from the entire SPAR global network.

The SPAR brand team will highlight own-label NPD developments, and partnerships with the Scottish FA, Healthy Living Scotland, and SPAR’s national charity partner Marie Curie.

McLean said: “The purpose of the event will be to update our entire network of how the business has managed during 2020.

“What is fundamentally important to us is that we get this opportunity to thank each person who has gone above and beyond over the past six months. We are in constant admiration of how well our independent SPAR network of stores has managed and how our wholesale team have supported them.

“SPAR stores have proven how resilient they are and how they care for the health and safety of their local community. It has been particularly pleasing to continue to support our customers and the communities in which we operate. Donations to local charities and organisations are now more than £200,000.

“Our supplier partnerships have also been very supportive and we look forward to working together in the months to come.”
