SPAR own-label wines and spirits win 44 awards

SPAR is celebrating 44 medal wins from five award bodies for products from its own-label wines and spirits range.

At the annual International Wine Challenge (IWC), SPAR took home 29 awards including silver medals for its Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene DOCG (£9.99) and SPAR Wildflower Pinot Noir (£7.49).

The group also claimed 11 medals at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), with its Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene DOCG gaining another silver medal and the Wildflower Pinot Noir winning bronze.

SPAR’s Wildflower Pinot Noir received a third accolade by gaining another bronze medal at the Global Pinot Noir Masters run by The Drinks Business.

In the Sud de France Top 100 competition, SPAR’s Regional Selection Languedoc Red (£7.49) was voted one of the top 100 wines produced in the south of France.

Meanwhile, at the International Spirits Challenge, SPAR Harmonist Gin (£19.99) won silver and SPAR London Dry Gin (£12.19) bronze.

Adam Georgiou, SPAR UK brand manager, said: “At SPAR we work very hard to offer our customers fantastic quality wines at great prices. We are delighted to win 44 medals from these five events. We are particularly proud of our Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene DOCG, which won two silver medals, and our Wildflower Pinot Noir, which won one silver and two bronze medals.

“These award medals from such distinguished bodies mark independent recognition for our SPAR own-brand wine and spirit range – which is available only at SPAR stores across England, Scotland and Wales.

“Our beers, wines & spirits team is dedicated to bringing the best range to our independent SPAR stores. We have a number of wines launching this summer with more introductions taking place in the winter and spring.”
