Seven new members join Confex to take turnover to over £2.5 billion

Major UK paper and office equipment wholesaler Spicers, with a turnover of £350 million, has joined Confex – one of seven concerns that have recently aligned themselves with the diversified group, which has over 200 members.

The other new signatories are Emara, a Sheffield-based soft drinks and snacks company; Yadco, an ethnic products wholesaler in Enfield, north London; Southeast Traders, a general wholesaler in Glasgow; Eezie-Freeze, of Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancs, a frozen food supplier to the catering trade; and two pub trade specialists on the Channel Isles, whose names are not being disclosed.

Confex business development manager Tom Gittins said: “The momentum of solid and very significant growth has continued in the first three months with these new signings, bringing turnover to more than £2.5 billion, an increase of 20% on the milestone reached at the end of last year.”

The group is holding its annual trade show on 21 April at the Four Pillars Hotel & Conference Centre, Cotswold Water Park, near Cirencester, Glos.
