United Wholesale Grocers, which has cash & carries in the Springburn and Polmadie areas of Glasgow, as well as a branch in Gateshead in north-east England (acquired as part of the recent Blakemore C&C disposal), increased operating profit by 24% to £915,000 in the year to the end of December on sales down by 0.4% to £123.9 million.
The Landmark Wholesale group member lifted like-for-like non-tobacco turnover by £9.7 million but saw tobacco income decline by £10.9 million.
