Parfetts announces opening of first Go Local Extra store in London

Parfetts has announced the opening of the first Go Local Extra store in London.

The 1,725 sq ft store on Plaistow Lane in Bromley had spent several years operating almost entirely as a post office after opening as a Londis convenience store. When retailer Posikan Sivakumar took it on, he completed a full refit and was preparing to continue with the previous fascia. That plan changed when he learned that Parfetts was now making deliveries to a growing number of retailers in the area.

Since reopening, the store has expanded its product range, introduced stronger promotions, and refreshed its layout. According to Parfetts, these changes have improved margins and brought in new customers each day. A food-to-go section is also being created to meet the growing demand for quick meal solutions and to increase the store’s appeal to commuters and local families.

Sivakumar said: “I knew of Parfetts and Go Local but did not realise they were reaching this part of London. Once I understood what they offered, it was an easy decision. The support from the team and the strength of the promotions have made a real difference. We can already see the benefit in customer feedback and in the performance of the store. I am looking forward to building on this strong start.”

Parfetts has more than 30 new Go Local stores planned across the south coast and Greater London in the coming months, supported by its new Southampton depot.

Guy Swindell, joint managing director at Parfetts, said: “London is a key part of our southern growth strategy, and opening our first Go Local Extra store in Bromley in addition to increasing our deliveries to existing retailers on a daily basis shows the scale of our ambition. This opening marks an important step for us.

“Working with Posikan has been a real pleasure, and the transformation of the store shows his drive and attention to detail. The early response from the community speaks for itself. We are committed to supporting his plans for growth, and we are proud to see our first Go Local Extra store in London already making its mark.”
