Parfetts achieves substantial increases in sales and profits

In the year to the end of June, Parfetts increased pre-tax profit by 17.5% to £6.1 million on sales up by 9.8% to £380 million.

The employee-owned business, now with seven cash & carries, paid staff a tax-free 2% sales bonus in July, and a second amount will be paid to them, based on profit, next month.

Joint managing director Greg Suszczenia said: “These are record results in both sales and profitability, despite paying two bonuses to all staff as well as investing heavily in the business.

“It has been a tough 10 years for our business paying off the (Parfett) family. These results are a testament to the hard work of all staff in achieving that and a great springboard into the next decade.”

Among the highlights were a 10% sales increase for the GOLD (Go Local Direct) operation based at the Sheffield site, growth of the Go Local symbol chain and a doubling in weekly turnover at the Middlesbrough branch, formerly owned by Blakemore.
