New-look Rio launched in 500ml PET bottle
In the second wave of development following its Brazilian street art-inspired redesign, Hall & Woodhouse has launched its bestselling Rio Tropical in a 500ml PET format. Tropical Light (no added sugar) and a £1 price-marked pack will follow next month.
Brand Manager Danielle Obbard comments: “Rio is going from strength to strength and the new PET 500ml pack format will offer our convenience retailers greater flexibility. We expect the pack to unlock new opportunities for retailers whose soft drinks range may focus on a bottle format and meal-deal activity. Rio is on the rise, with 130% growth over the last five years and 32 million cans sold in 2016.”
Rio is made from 10% real fruit and juice and lightly sparkling mineral water. A recent survey showed that 40% of 16-54 year olds would be likely to buy the product if it was available at a reasonable price in a store they visited (Kantar).
Rio Tropical PET (12-pack) is available now, with Tropical Light and price-marked packs to follow in July. Independent retailers can take advantage of bespoke point-of-sale kits that showcase the new look.
Rio is exclusive to the independent and convenience trades as it is only available through wholesalers, not major supermarkets.
