Neil Turton to stay on as Sugro managing director

Neil Turton (pictured) is to remain as managing director of Sugro UK.

He was originally due to leave at the beginning of May 2020, having resigned at the start of the year, but was asked to remain with the group due to the Coronavirus situation. It has now been confirmed he will stay for the foreseeable future: “The Board and I feel that continuity will assist Sugro’s progress,” he said.

The announcement was made at the group’s virtual conference, which attracted more than 250 delegates and featured over 700 supplier-member meetings over a three-day period.

In addition to announcing that he would be staying on, Turton reported that the group had achieved 8% growth in the year to date – this has now risen to 9%. He added that Sugro has communicated widely with members and suppliers during the pandemic and created and sustained a ‘marketplace’ where business gets done – leading to growth.

The virtual conference was well received by suppliers and members alike. Yulia Petitt, Sugro’s head of trading & marketing, commented: “We have received some great feedback from our members and supply partners. As with everyone else in the world, we at Sugro had to adapt and do things differently this year and I am very pleased that we are doing it successfully. COVID-19 has taught us that providing advanced solutions to help connect and network both members and suppliers is crucial to success in a rapidly transforming strategic environment.”

She added: “Sugro’s group performance has been remarkably strong in 2020 and I would like to thank our members and suppliers for all their support and participation in these unpredictable times.”
