JJ Foodservice joins LACA to bolster schools supply strategy

JJ Foodservice has become an associate member of LACA The School Food People to continue its drive to supply more school and local authority caterers.

As the UK’s largest provider of school catering, the LACA network of more than 3,000 caterers delivers three million lunches every day in 27,000 schools.

Baris Kacar, chief sales officer of JJ Foodservice, said: “LACA membership helps us to reach a valuable network of caterers and school staff who are passionate about making sure school children get access to nutritious, healthy meals from approved suppliers.”

Following contracts wins earlier this year with Bolton, Barnsley, Leeds, and Bradford Councils, worth more than £3 million pounds, JJ became one of Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation’s (YPO) largest foodservice framework suppliers.

YPO offers a specialist procurement service that enables public sector customers such as schools and local authorities to benefit from cost and efficiency savings through bulk buying.

Jo Webster, category manager for YPO, said: “To win a public contract under the framework, suppliers must demonstrate they can offer a range of quality products with competitive pricing. In some instances, JJ has helped our members to find a one-stop shop, which means less vehicles on the road, less food miles and less carbon footprint – we have large customers who have had long term contracts with JJ and feedback from them has been good.”
