JJ Food Service invests in transport fleet and drivers

JJ Food Service is training its drivers to be more customer focused and has also launched a new fleet of high-tech vehicles.

Group general manager Terry Larkin said: “Customers have told us that quality and service are absolutely key, so we are responding by investing in a first-class delivery experience. Gone are the days you could simply drop goods off from A to B. Our new customer service drivers are knowledgeable and can offer advice and support.”

Drivers now wear a ‘vibrant’ new uniform and their salary has been increased by up to 35%. Investment has also been made in more than 20 7.5-tonne multi-temp vehicles with modern technology.

“Our new CCTV camera systems enable drivers to manoeuvre more precisely and be fully aware of their blind spot,” said Larkin. “The vehicles are also cycle safe.”

Around 40 existing lorries have been upgraded so far, with plans in place to improve the entire fleet.

The 7.5-tonne vehicles are less than half the size of JJ’s 18-tonne trucks, supporting the move towards more local deliveries, including to households.
