Hertfordshire Council urges more wholesalers to join healthier eating scheme
Hertfordshire County Council is collaborating with local food and drink wholesalers and suppliers (within 70 miles of Hertfordshire) to support healthier eating and sustainability as part of the Herts Responsible Food Award (HRFA).
JJ Foodservice has already shown its support, offering a 10% discount on a range of health-focused and eco-friendly products. The discount can be obtained by new customers or those who haven’t shopped at the wholesaler for 12 months.
Other wholesalers and suppliers to Hertfordshire-based food businesses are encouraged to get in touch and support local businesses in their efforts to offer healthier options and operate more sustainably.
Suppliers are encouraged to offer HRFA holders exclusive discounts/offers on a range of items which may include, but are not limited to:
– polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fat or oil products
– products without trans fatty acids
– products with reduced sugar/salt content/ alternatives
– eco-friendly packaging options and cleaning products
– fruits and vegetables
– responsibly caught fish
– free range or organic eggs (Marked as 0 or 1)
– meat that satisfies UK welfare standards
– Diet and low sugar beverages/water
– Gluten-free options
– Vegetarian and vegan products
Wholesalers and suppliers supporting the award will be promoted directly to Hertfordshire businesses applying for the food award. In addition, they will benefit from advertisement and promotion as a business supporting health and sustainability from Hertfordshire County Council and local District and Borough Councils.
