GroceryAid Carol Concert raises £65,000

The GroceryAid Carol Concert, held on 11 December at St Luke’s Church, Chelsea, raised £65,000 to provide support for grocery colleagues in need this festive season.

In keeping with tradition, the 300 guests were entertained by a professional choir and heard readings from industry leaders: Sally Abbott, managing director of Weetabix, Rob Harris, vice president sales of Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP), and Ashwin Prasad, commercial director – packaged foods of Tesco.

New for 2019, guests enjoyed performances from a children’s choir and a festive, light-humoured reading from Poldark actor Luke Norris. There was also a VIP drinks reception.

Rob Harris of CCEP commented: “At this special time of year it’s important to come together as an industry and support those who are most in need. At Coca-Cola, we’re proud to be involved with this wonderful Christmas event and the many other GroceryAid initiatives that provide help to people and families all year round.”

Following the concert, a champagne and canapé reception was held at the nearby Chelsea Gardener for guests to catch up with industry colleagues and celebrate the amount raised to provide emotional, practical and financial support to colleagues in crisis.

GroceryAid’s 2020 Carol Concert will take place on Wednesday 9 December.
