Giro Foods acquires Tiger Foodservice from Hyperama

Giro Foods, a £25 million turnover foodservice operator based in central Birmingham, has acquired Tiger Foodservice from fellow Unitas member Hyperama.

Founded in 1969, Giro Foods is an ethnic foods wholesaler supplying foodservice and catering operators with a wide range of branded products as well as its private label Winflo.

Javed Sarwar, managing director of Giro Foods, commented: “We are very familiar with the Tiger Foods business and are delighted to have been able to secure this deal. Tiger Foods has a great customer base, and this is an ideal opportunity for us to grow our business. We are looking forward to working with our customers and suppliers while we incorporate the Tiger Foods business within Giro Foods.”

Marcus Singh, managing director of Hyperama, added: “Javed and his family have been friends of ours for many years and this is an ideal fit which allows Hyperama to focus on our core cash & carry business. We thank all of our customers and suppliers who have helped us develop the Tiger Foods business over the years, and we wish Giro Foods continued success in the integration of Tiger Foods into the Giro Foods business.”

John Kinney, managing director of Unitas, commented: “This is great news for Hyperama and Giro Foods, who are a longstanding Unitas (and previously Today’s) member, and we look forward to working closely with Javed and the team at Giro Foods while they integrate the Tiger Foods business into their operation. We also look forward to continuing our relationship with Marcus and the Hyperama team who are now well placed to focus on their successful cash & carry business.”
