Former Unitas trading controller Darren Pugh joins East End Wholesale

Darren Pugh (pictured), former trading controller at Unitas Wholesale, has joined East End Wholesale Stores as senior trading controller.

Pugh returns to working with John Searle, formerly trading director at Landmark and now commercial director at East End Foods – Pugh worked at Landmark for 13 years before the group’s merger with Today’s to form Unitas Wholesale.

Before that, Pugh was operations director at AF Blakemore from 2004 to 2005.

East End Foods was founded by five Wouhra brothers in Wolverhampton in 1972 but last year was sold to private equity firm Exponent.

Earlier this year, the cash & carry arm of the business – comprising depots in Aston and Smethwick – was bought back by the Wouhra family and it is now trading as East End Wholesale Stores, while the ethnic food ingredients manufacturing business remains under the ownership of Exponent.

Don Wouhra, managing director of East End Foods, died earlier this year.
