Dhamecha opens second branch in the Midlands

Dhamecha has opened its ninth cash & carry – in the Smethwick area of Birmingham.

The 70,000 sq ft depot is Dhamecha’s second branch outside London – the company has been operating in Leicester since 2015.

The former general manager of the Leicester branch, Richard Elphick, now heads up the Birmingham operation, and his position is filled by Siddarth Jani, who has been with  Dhamecha for almost 10 years.

Chief executive of the Today’s Group member Pradip Dhamecha commented: “Following the success of the Leicester branch, we are delighted to be expanding our Midlands base into Birmingham and to be employing 60 staff in the area. Our team joined us over two months ago and they have spent the last few weeks being trained in the Leicester branch ready for the opening of Birmingham.”

He added: “Over the last 40 years, we have built a reputation with our customers for good service, speed, competitive long-term pricing and excellent stock availability – and we look forward to developing close relationships with the retailers and caterers in the Birmingham area.”

Dhamecha has an annual turnover of more than £700 million and is the Today’s Group’s largest member.
