‘A fantastic opportunity for own-brands to gain recognition’

The launch of the CCM Chefs Own-Brand Awards to determine the best foodservice own-brand products in the market has really struck a chord with the cash & carry/delivered wholesale trade.

Unveiled last week by Cash & Carry Management magazine in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs, the new awards scheme has already attracted a wide range of entries, from buying groups and multi-site wholesalers with substantial own-brand portfolios to independent operators with just a few own-brand lines.

The Craft Guild of Chefs – the leading chefs’ association in the UK –  will conduct the judging in blind tastings. Each product will be tested on taste, texture, aroma, appearance and value for money. To add further value to the awards, feedback will be given by the chefs on each item tested.

Landmark Wholesale is just one of the entrants that is enthusiastic about the awards. Its foodservice trading controller Les Mohammed (pictured) commented: “I do believe this is a fantastic opportunity for own-brand products to gain the recognition they rightly deserve.”

Entries are open for products in all food & drink categories at a cost of £75 per product, with one free for every 10 products entered. Entries can be made online here: https://cashandcarrymanagement.co.uk/ccm-chefs-own-brand-awards/ or you can download and print a form here: https://cashandcarrymanagement.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/CandCM-Foodservice-entry-form.pdf

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 4 April 2018. The products must be delivered direct to Westminster Kingsway College, London. Delivery details will be provided when entries have closed, and judging will take place in April 2018.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards lunch on Thursday 24 May 2018.
