Booker appoints steering committee for Women in Booker network

Booker has appointed a colleague steering committee for its recently formed ‘Women in Booker’ network.

Women in Booker was launched in March with several aims, including raising awareness of gender imbalance, creating network opportunities, and supporting, inspiring and motivating female careers across the business.

The network is chaired by national accounts controller Abbie Hackwell, with support from vice-chair Maria Chittenden, who is head of transport.

Jenna Turner, a branch manager who has worked at Booker for more than 14 years, has recently been named as the personal development lead, while IT project manager Tony Butcher has been appointed events & comms lead, and Albena Ruf is the new feedback & insights lead.

Turner (pictured) commented: “I’m beyond excited to pioneer much-needed change through the strategy we’re building.

“As someone who is extremely passionate about women in business, I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm to bring to this network; I can’t wait to land our ideas with the rest of the amazing SteerCo. I’m very excited to see our progress over the coming year and feeling very grateful for this opportunity to make a difference.”
