AF Blakemore unveils two new hot food-to-go choices for SPAR stores
AF Blakemore is introducing two new hot food-to-go options to attract people into its SPAR stores in the evening.
Prego! Pizza is currently being tested in Blakemore’s SPAR store in Aldridge, West Midlands. The concept features an oblong focaccia Romana pizza base that can be prepared and handed over to the customer in 90 seconds. It is available in four varieties – Margherita, Mediterranean Vegetable, Meat Feast and BBQ Chicken – with an rsp of £2.29 per slice, £4.50 for two slices, £12.29 for half a pizza and £22.99 for a full pizza.
The company is also in the final stages of developing a chicken bar. “We are taking a traditional rotisserie chicken concept and turning it into much more,” said Nikki Rogers, food solutions & proposition director at AF Blakemore.
The chicken bar will go into trial in December or January. Customers will not only be able to buy a rotisserie chicken to take home, but they will also be able to choose from a selection of hot salads, kebabs, mezze, snack pots and hot sandwiches made with the chicken.
“Even in today’s world, food to go is as important now as it ever has been,” said Rogers. “We are confident that we have the skill set to drive forward and continuously innovate because food to go is never finished.”
