Sterling Supergroup team complete National Three Peaks Challenge

As part of its ongoing 60th anniversary fundraising efforts, Sterling Supergroup is celebrating the successful completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge by a team of head office colleagues and Sterling members.

Participants included Daniel Larkin and Kerry Clements from Sterling head office; chairman Nigel Chadd; Shelley Day, Yan Whitechurch and Mike Crowhurst of J&R Foodservice; Mark Hunter-Pickles of Debriar; Paul Northeast of Strachans; Gary Winstanley of Leverbrook Export; and Tom Plews of East Kent Foods.

Taking on challenging terrain, unpredictable weather and a demanding schedule, the team completed the challenge in 22 hours and 55 minutes, well within the 24-hour target. They climbed Ben Nevis, Whernside, and Snowdon. Due to unexpected road closures, the group were unable to attempt Scafell Pike so they took on Whernside, the highest peak in Yorkshire,

Reflecting on the experience, Daniel Larkin, CCO of Sterling Supergroup, said: “This was definitely the hardest physical and mental challenge of my life, but it was amazing to find out just how far I can push myself when required. Thank you for all of the donations and messages of support – they really helped me throughout the Three Peaks Challenge.”

Paul Northeast of Strachans said: “I have to admit that the Three Peaks Challenge was one of the most challenging things I have ever undertaken. It really did take everything I had to keep going, particularly on Snowdon, the last mountain, when it was torrential rain for the whole time. Having said that, it was a fantastic experience, and it was great to undertake the challenge with such a strong team. I’m so pleased I took part and feel a real sense of achievement, particularly in the time we managed.”

Throughout the challenge, the support shown between team members was inspiring, reinforcing the strength of the Sterling Community and the value of working together to achieve more. Members followed the team’s progress over the weekend, sharing messages of encouragement, while other followers continued to donate in support of the challenge.

Nigel Chadd, chairman of Sterling Supergroup, commented: “The challenge was immense, the determination of the team awesome, and the money raised fantastic. I’m incredibly proud to be chairman of Sterling and part of this team.”

The fundraising total has now surpassed 63% of Sterling’s £60,000 target, with donations continuing to grow as the group drives forward its 60th anniversary fundraising campaign. With further activities planned during the 60th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Hampshire this September, Sterling remains focused on reaching its goal in support of its three chosen charities: Hospitality Action, Action Against Hunger, and FoodCycle.
