£15 million expenditure on JJ Food Service’s new depots
Further details have been released by JJ Food Service on the three new branches it is opening (exclusively reported in Cash & Carry Management: February).
The total cost of the depots in Dagenham, Leicester and Newcastle upon Tyne is £15 million. They will be fully operational in the autumn.
The purpose-built Dagenham unit has an area of 26,300 sq ft and, at 12 metres high, is the tallest of the wholesaler’s 11 outlets and the only one with solar panels.
Both the 37,000 sq ft Newcastle site and the one in Leicester (32,000 sq ft) are renovated buildings, with new fencing, cladding, roofs with skylights and showrooms with touch screens for ordering.
Chief executive officer Mushtaque Ahmed said: “Moving near the hearts of these locations will bring our business closer to customers, helping them make great savings when they click and collect.”
All three depots will be open every day for collection, including weekends and bank holidays. Next-day deliveries are available for orders placed before 9pm.
The current annual turnover of JJ from eight branches is £182 million.
