Zero calories but masses of consumer appeal

Lucozade Ribena Suntory (LRS) is launching Lucozade Zero, a new low-calorie drink.

Available from 2 May in Orange and Pink Lemonade variants, the new line will come in 380ml PMP and non-PMP bottles (rsp £1.09) across wholesale and independents, and 500ml bottles (rsp £1.19) in grocery and convenience, as well as a 380ml multipack (rsp £3.85) and a one-litre bottle (rsp £1.99).

The launch is being supported by a £5 million marketing campaign that will include retail support in independents and grocery outlets, incorporating PoS material and display units, and consumer media.

According to the British Soft Drinks Association, more than half of the soft drinks market (57%) is now low calorie or calorie-free.

Lucozade Energy senior brand manager Charlotte Flook told Cash & Carry Management: “Lucozade Zero offers people the chance to enjoy two of their favourite flavours with lower calories. This new launch is another way that Lucozade Ribena Suntory is delivering on its ambition to reduce calories across its portfolio by 20%.”

The company also recently relaunched its 250ml Lucozade Energy slimline can range with a new design and the addition of Pink Lemonade to the established choice of Original and Orange. The cans have an rsp of 69p and there is also a PMP at 59p.
