Unitas launches Christmas beers, wines and spirits guide
Unitas Wholesale has launched a Christmas beers, wines & spirits ‘Focus On’ guide to help independent retailers maximise the opportunity that seasonal drinks present at this key time of the year.
Developed in partnership with Heineken, the guide provides insights on the most important areas of focus for independent retailers.
Tracey Redfearn, Plan for Profit category controller, commented: “After the smaller scale gatherings between family and friends during Christmas 2020, those taking place this year are expected to be on a larger scale, with premiumisation remaining a key area of focus for consumers that want to create an out-of-home experience at home.
“Shoppers are likely to stock up over a longer period of time in the build up to Christmas Day, and throughout the guidance we highlight the key brands that retailers should be stocking, alongside key insights and advice to help them maximise the seasonal drinks opportunity over the festive and New Year trading period.”
Further ‘Focus On’ guides will be made available before the end of 2021, developed with pladis and Proctor & Gamble on the biscuits and homecare categories respectively.
“The sweet biscuits category is now worth £2.4 billion in the UK and is experiencing growth, with over 99% of UK households buying into the category, and the homecare category is worth over £97 million and is another key driver of basket spend in independent retailers,” said Redfearn. “Throughout the guides, retailers will find more key advice on trends and best sellers with supporting planogram guidance to help them grow these categories in store.”
