Family-run wholesaler Trevors Foodservice has signed up to support Elmer’s Big Parade Blackpool in aid of charity.

The event will see David McKee’s popular children’s character – Elmer the Patchwork Elephant – brought to life as 30 uniquely decorated elephant sculptures, which will be placed throughout the town next spring.

Trevors Foodservice has sponsored an Elmer sculpture for the duration of the campaign, and the design will be created by one of around 100 artists on a shortlist.

A collaboration between Brian House Children’s Hospice, Wild in Art and Andersen Press, the Elmer art trail will run from 13 April to 19 June 2024 and aims to make art accessible to all. Every penny raised through Elmer’s Big Parade Blackpool will go towards providing specialist care to local life-limited children at Brian House – the only children’s hospice on the Fylde coast.

Linking up with local schools and youth organisations, the special Elmer trail also includes a herd of young Elmers that have been designed and decorated by some of the Fylde coast’s most creative children and young people.

Gary Hitchen, Trevors Foodservice managing director, said: “Our unwavering commitment to our local community resonates throughout the organisation, from management to every corner of our operations. Giving back is deeply ingrained in our family and our business so we’re proud to support this incredible initiative, which will help raise money for a great cause, bring our incredible town to life through art and hopefully provide a big boost to local hospitality businesses.”

Trevors Foodservice, which celebrates its 60th anniversary at a special catering exhibition on 2 November, will be running various fundraising activities on the day as it looks to add to the £10,000 already raised for charities in the last 12 months.  Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice will be attending the show to take donations, and all of the surplus food will be donated to Blackpool Food Bank.

Trevors Foodservice regularly donates to the NHS, plus other local charities, causes and events through food and monetary support. This includes providing 7,000 bottles of water to the Trinity Hospice each year.

In addition, Trevors continue to support Blackpool Food Bank and has contributed over 2,000 kg in donations, translating to 8,000 meals served to those in need.
