Savona Foodservice lists pre-cooked pouched jackfruit

Savona Foodservice has listed pre-cooked pouched jackfruit from The Jackfruit Company in response to increasing pressure on caterers to provide great tasting food to conscientious customers, students and patients.

“The decision to list the product was extremely easy, as it ticks so many boxes for our customers,” said Kelly Williams, sustainability director at Savona.

“The product has three times more fibre and protein than a tinned version, which will be extremely beneficial to caterers and end users, as the health-conscious market increases.”

Annie Ryu, founder of The Jackfruit Company, added: “By working with Savona, we hope to show that jackfruit isn’t just the speciality ingredient that many still think it is, but a staple food capable of replacing meat and fish in hundreds of traditional British dishes such as shepherd’s pie, beef stew, and even fishcakes.

“Simply switching out the meat in meals already familiar to children and adults alike, and replacing it with the pre-cooked pouched jackfruit, saves both time and money – as well as being more sustainable.”
