Parfetts announces death of its founder Alan Parfett
Parfetts has announced the death of Alan Parfett, founder of Parfetts in 1980.
Parfett’s initial intention in 1980 was to run one cash & carry successfully, but under his guidance and then the leadership of his sons Steve and Robert, the business prospered. Robert sadly died, and Steve continued to head up the business until his retirement at the end of 2018 when Parfetts became an employee-owned business.
Today, Parfetts operates depots in Aintree, Anfield, Birmingham, Halifax, Middlesbrough, Sheffield, Somercotes and Stockport. Its operations cover England and Wales.
A former chairman of the FWD and heavily involved in the Landmark buying group, Alan Parfett, along with Steve and Robert, were recognised by the FWD in 2011 with a special Gold Medal award.
Alan Parfett also wrote a book, The Parfetts Story – a fascinating read: https://www.calameo.com/read/001188737a7747c286a52
Martin Williams, former managing director of Landmark, paid tribute to Alan: “An absolute gentleman and inspiration to all. Both Alan and Steve helped me develop my career in wholesaling. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.”
