kff introduces new fresh fish range from M&J Seafood

Aylesford-based kff (Kent Frozen Foods) has launched a new range of fresh fish as it continues to expand the range of fresh produce it sells.

The new selection is from M&J Seafood, part of Fresh Direct, and comprises 35 products, from cod, haddock, monkfish and halibut to crab, lemon sole and lobster.

Over the past two years, kff has revitalised its offer. Working in partnership with sister company and specialist fresh produce wholesaler Fresh Direct, it has introduced more than 200 fresh produce lines. Fresh fish is completely new to its porfolio.

Mark Taylor, kff MD, said: “Over the past few years, we’ve invested heavily in kff’s range to make life easier for customers to get everything they need on one delivery. We know how much customers love the attention and service they get from kff and now they can also access the range that they need.”

In other news, Fresh Direct has launched new, plastic-free packaging for its best-selling avocado twin-pack.

Developed by Fresh Direct’s key avocado supply partner Westfalia Fruit, the new packaging replaces the current plastic packaging with a paper-based pack, which is made from actively managed, FSC approved sources.

The co-branded twin packs are wrapped around the avocados, providing an additional layer of protection for the product.

Paul Nieduszynski, Sysco GB CEO, said: “This is another step in our journey to reduce our environmental impact and builds on other recent successes such as the removal of 50 tonnes of plastic from our berries packaging, helping us to continue to lead the foodservice sector.

“While the major initiatives like our electric vehicles or solar installations may grab the headlines, it’s the work like this that our teams are doing day in and day out that’s also making a real difference. Every incremental change we make with our suppliers adds to our goal of becoming a more sustainable organisation.”
