Fairway Foodservice, which joined Landmark Wholesale early this year, took its 2017 turnover to £715 million – up from £650.5 million in the previous 12 months.
The latest figure includes a contribution from the latest member, Young’s Foods, of Hull, which has a 6,500 sq ft warehouse and sales of more than £2.5 million.
Chief executive Chris Binge commented: “Despite difficulty in the market due to food product inflation affecting margins, our members have yet again increased their collective turnover.”
He added that only one of the 20 companies failed to lift sales. “The success is down to understanding the needs of customers and delivering the service they require; this is one of our members’ strengths,” he said.
“In addition, members source local and regional products and harness the collective purchasing by Fairway, maximise promotional activity and continue to introduce technology and data into their operations – a winning formula.”
Binge added that he was confident the group would continue to increase its sales, despite the uncertain economic, political and social future.
