Country Range Group smashes fundraising target

The Country Range Group’s member wholesalers and central office team helped to raise £186,190 for various national and local charities as part of the organisation’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

The group’s initial target was £100,000, with money raised to be split between Hospitality Action and selected charities in the local areas of the group’s central office and each individual wholesaler around the UK and Ireland.

However, that target was exceeded through a wide array of charitable endeavours, including fundraising activities at the various CRG events such as the annual ‘An Evening With’ celebration and Gala Evening.

Some of the challenges undertaken by employees of the group and its members were pub walks, quiz nights, fancy dress days, bake-offs, golf days, parachute jumps, gin nights, a sponsored leg wax and a tattoo auction.

Out of the total amount raised, £50,000 has been donated to Hospitality Action, which offers a range of help and support to those working in the industry.  The rest of the money is being split between local charities such as regional food banks, mental health charities, children’s charities and hospices.

Country Range Group chief executive Martin Ward said: “We’re delighted to have not only hit our £100,000 target but to have absolutely smashed it by raising a staggering £186,190 for a host of amazing charities.

“A huge thank you to all the central office team and member employees for getting on board and embarking on some weird and wonderful challenges. The activities certainly brought the group closer together and the funds raised will make a huge difference to Hospitality Action and our chosen local charities.”

Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action, added: “We’re immensely grateful for the donation from the Country Range Group and its members and it will go a huge way towards helping people working in the hospitality industry get back on their feet again. With UK consumers facing a cost-of-living crisis and our industry facing unprecedented challenges, the donation and others alike couldn’t arrive at a better time.”
