Castell Howell celebrates top BRC Global Standard accreditation

Castell Howell, the Carmarthenshire-based wholesaler, is celebrating after being awarded the highest level AA grade BRC Global Standard accreditation.

Developed to identify best practice, the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution is specifically designed for logistics operations dealing with food, packaging, and consumer products.

A Caterforce member, Castell Howell was awarded the top AA grade as the wholesaler demonstrated the highest quality product safety, integrity, quality and legality throughout the storage and distribution process.

“We’re absolutely delighted with this recognition,” said director Matt Lewis. “Not only does this reflect the incredible hard work of our team, particularly during the challenging period of the pandemic, but it also provides Castell Howell customers with complete peace of mind that they will receive the very highest level of service from our dedicated, hard-working team.”

During the audit, the wholesaler was judged on elements such as organisational structure, responsibility and management, hazard and risk analysis, site and building standards, facility management and personnel.

Richard Davies, head of compliance at Castell Howell, said: “This accreditation is testament to the continued efforts of our loyal workforce, effectively co-ordinated by Jayne Griffiths, food safety manager, and Beverley Thomas, technical supervisor.”

Castell Howell was established in 1988 and it has since grown to become Wales’s leading independent foodservice wholesaler. Proud of its Welsh roots, Castell Howell supplies and promotes regional products alongside bestselling brands, and remains a family-run business focused on continual growth and success.
