Dhamecha to open Bristol depot on 14 September

Dhamecha will open a new depot in Bristol on Monday 14 September.

A Unitas member, Dhamecha has a turnover of £1.3 billion and over 18,000 customers already being served in London, the Midlands and the North West. This latest development – its 14th branch – follows the opening of a Liverpool depot less than two years ago.

Chief executive Pradip Dhamecha said: “We are delighted to open our 14th depot in the South West. It opens a new market for us, allowing us to bring our widely recognised outstanding customer service, comprehensive range and competitive pricing to local independent retailers.

“We are immensely grateful to our colleagues and suppliers for their hard work in getting this depot up and running.

“Suppliers have been supportive and excited about the move, they see it as a good region for us to operate in. We have been canvassing and registering customers with very positive feedback ahead of the launch.”

The new premises feature a significant investment in digital screens, particularly in check-out areas. For aisle-end activations, Dhamecha has added canopy digital displays under the larger promotional screens which feature the price and return on investment of the products beneath.

Each registered customer will be given a unique QR code to give them access to the depot car park, effectively ending the problem of theft from vehicles, while 60 new employees will maintain Dhamecha’s face-to-face service with customers.

Unitas CEO John Kinney said: “Dhamecha’s emergence as a national force in wholesale demonstrates that there is no better model for engaging retailers and retaining their loyalty than a cash & carry operation based on excellent personal service, no-nonsense pricing, clear and simple promotional metrics and just the right amount of digital magic.

“We are delighted to see our largest member growing so confidently within our group.”
