LWC Drinks acquires The Wigan Beer Company and Keegans

LWC Drinks, the UK’s largest independent drinks wholesaler, has acquired wholesaler The Wigan Beer Company for an undisclosed sum.

The Wigan Beer Company’s managing director Adam Jones with LWC’s managing director Ebrahim Mukadam.

Established in 1994, The Wigan Beer Company serves pubs, bars, restaurants and hospitality venues across the North West.

As part of the agreement, Wigan Beer’s Keegans wholesale operation in Holyhead has also become part of LWC.

The acquisition will enable LWC to enhance its support for customers in the North West and North Wales.

For the remainder of 2026, both Wigan Beer and Keegans will continue to operate from their existing sites, ensuring continuity for customers and colleagues.

From 2027, LWC will look to integrate the Wigan Beer operation into its Knowsley and Leyland depots. Keegans will continue to operate from its Holyhead site for the foreseeable future.

According to the company, under the new partnership, the combined strengths of Wigan Beer, Keegans and LWC will:

• Create a stronger independent route to market across the North West and North Wales, delivering an enhanced service proposition for hospitality operators.

• Protect the trusted local relationships and customer service that Wigan Beer and Keegans’ customers value.

• Provide access to an ‘unrivalled’ product range, including LWC’s Signature Brands portfolio and wine offering.

• Deliver the benefits of LWC’s national scale, including advanced logistics, dedicated customer support and industry-leading fulfilment capability.

• Strengthen the overall customer experience by combining Wigan Beer’s and Keegans’ local expertise with LWC’s investment, infrastructure and family-run values.

• Create future opportunities for colleagues through access to a wider business and long-term career development opportunities.

Ebrahim Mukadam, managing director at LWC, said: “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting customers for the long term. By combining LWC’s national network and infrastructure with the local expertise and trusted relationships developed by Wigan Beer and Keegans, we will create an even stronger proposition for hospitality operators across both regions.”

Adam Jones, managing director of The Wigan Beer Company, said: “We are pleased to be partnering with an organisation that shares our values and commitment to customer service. LWC is a respected independent wholesaler with a strong reputation for supporting customers and investing in the future.

“We believe this partnership represents a positive opportunity for our customers, colleagues and supplier partners, while ensuring the personal service and relationships that have always been central to our success remain unchanged.”
