SPAR Scotland unveils World Cup truck and launches Spin into Spring

SPAR Scotland is giving retailers, suppliers and shoppers an early glimpse of its World Cup plans with the launch of a special teaser truck livery.

Applied to one of SPAR Scotland’s standard trailers, the new livery celebrates Scotland’s men’s national team qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in 27 years, marking a major sporting moment and a source of growing national pride.

Created in partnership with a number of supplier brands, the livery is designed as a good-luck message to the team as they prepare to take to the world stage – while also signalling that SPAR Scotland is getting ready to play its part in supporting the nation through what promises to be a huge summer.

The teaser truck is the first visible step in SPAR Scotland’s wider World Cup activity, which will include extensive in-store activation and support planned across multiple marketing channels.

SPAR retailers can expect a comprehensive programme spanning in-store PoS, digital and social activity, radio advertising and further vehicle branding, all designed to drive footfall, engage shoppers and help stores make the most of the heightened excitement around the tournament.

Josie Cattermoul, trading director at SPAR Scotland, said: “This livery is our way of sharing in the excitement that’s building across Scotland as the national team prepares for a historic World Cup. It’s a simple but visible show of support and a small teaser of the bigger plans we have in place to help our retailers make the most of what will be an incredible summer.

“We are proud to be working alongside our supplier partners to wish the team good luck, and this is just the first sign of how SPAR Scotland will be Daring to Dream with the nation in the months ahead.”

In other news, SPAR Scotland has launched its latest digital shopper activation, Spin into Spring – an exclusive gamification campaign designed to drive footfall, boost engagement and increase sales across its estate of stores.

Running from 12 March to 22 April, the campaign features a simple Spin & Win game, accessible via a dedicated website and playable by customers up to three times. Each spin will give shoppers the chance to win free product or money-off digital vouchers, redeemable exclusively in participating SPAR Scotland stores.

In total, shoppers will be able to win over 150,000 worth of digital vouchers, spanning every category in store. Customers who play the game three times will also unlock a bonus Scratch & Win mechanic, which guarantees an instant prize and further incentivises engagement and repeat store visits.

Alongside the instant rewards, the campaign features a £10,000 cash grand prize for one lucky customer.

The campaign is brought to life through extensive in-store PoS and execution, in-store digital screens, social and digital activity, radio advertising and vehicle livery, ensuring strong visibility both in and out of store. SPAR Scotland retailers have also received communications and top tips to help maximise participation and voucher redemptions, alongside additional incentives linked to compliance and standout in-store execution.

Colin McLean, CEO at SPAR Scotland, said: “Spin into Spring is designed to do exactly what our SPAR retailers want most – drive footfall and give shoppers a compelling reason to visit more often. By combining simple gamification with instant rewards that are redeemed in-store, we are creating a campaign that delivers value for shoppers, retailers and suppliers alike.

“This is our third gamification campaign, but the first to be exclusive to SPAR Scotland retailers, which has allowed us to really focus on supporting our stores and maximising impact. With fantastic supplier backing and strong in-store execution planned, Spin into Spring sets the tone for what will be a huge summer for SPAR Scotland, as the nation looks ahead to celebrating Scotland’s participation in the forthcoming World Cup.”
