Millbrook Dairy Company raises £25,000 for Children in Need
Millbrook Dairy Company has raised £25,000 for BBC Children in Need through its Tuk-Tuk Challenge.
Millbrook’s founders and directors David Evans and Kevin Beer (pictured) travelled from the company’s headquarters in Devon to the Orkney Islands in a Tuk-Tuk sporting a giant wedge of cheese on the roof – a journey that included 29 stops and more than 1,600 miles.
The pair visited many of the major UK cheese producers in England, Wales and Scotland along the way, tasting and grading their cheese, starting with Parkham Farms in Devon and finishing at Kirkwall Creamery on the Orkney Islands nine days later.
Beer commented: “It’s our fifth birthday this year, and we wanted to do something completely different where we could give back to society – hence our crazy Tuk-Tuk idea!
“As well as raising a huge amount of money for BBC Children In Need, we have sampled some amazing cheeses along the way from many of the very best of UK producers.”
Evans added: “What an adventure! We are absolutely delighted to have raised over £25,000 for Children in Need, an amazing charity that helps fund thousands of projects in every corner of the UK.
“Our family and friends have sponsored us, and some of our wonderful supply partners and customers have supported us too, and we are hoping that our fund raising will continue right up until Children In Need night in November.”
