Harvest concludes fundraising year with cookery workshop

Southampton-based Harvest Fine Foods, which has fund-raised for Naomi House & Jacksplace children’s hospice during 2023/2024, celebrated the end of a year’s support by hosting a cookery workshop at the hospice for service users.

The wholesaler took a team to run the interactive cookery workshop. Guided by Phil Clark, Harvest’s development chef, the group rustled up ‘dirty burgers’ and ‘Tex-Mex’ sides.

Clark commented: “We knew that when we were organising this special event that it would be a privilege to be part of. We had a great day full of fun, laughter and learning. It was a great way to celebrate the end of our fundraising year.’

Harvest was supported in the event by several of its local suppliers, including Isle of Wight Tomatoes, Speciality Bread, New Forest Fruits, New Forest Ice Cream, New Forest Mushrooms, Solent Butchers, Nationwide, and Black Fox Woodland Produce.

Jenny Astall, support worker at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said: “Food is such an important aspect of our lives, so it was great to have the team from Harvest Fine Foods join us for a fun interactive workshop. The team were great at working with the boys in creating their own style of burgers and ice cream sundaes.”

Shelley Kinnaird, people & sustainability coordinator at Harvest Fine Foods, explained that when Naomi House & Jacksplace became the wholesaler’s chosen charity of the year it initially pledged £1,500 as its target, but it ultimately raised £5,000.
