Steve Thomson (pictured) has rejoined drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark (now owned by C&C Group) as executive chairman.

He was previously chief executive of Matthew Clark Group until it was acquired by the Conviviality Group in 2005.

During his time with the company (from 2002), it established itself as the UK’s leading drinks distributor, adding large new customers and suppliers, the majority of which are still associated with the business.

Thomson’s new role at Matthew Clark is part-time (two days a week). He will work with David Phillips, formerly group finance director and now managing director, to stabilise the business over the coming year.
