Today’s Group member, Sheffield-based Pricecheck is now handling alcohol distribution in the UK and EU after acquiring the necessary licence eight months ago.

In autumn last year, as part of the wholesaler’s commitment to expansion, work began on a mezzanine floor at the purpose-built warehouse and head office.

Business development director Chris Roberts said the investment has resulted in increased efficiency when processing orders.

The company has also expanded into additional satellite warehouse facilities in Sheffield, adding 40,000 sq ft of storage, increasing capacity to 170,000 sq ft.

Commenting on the entry into alcohol, Roberts said: “This is a strategic move. We have traditionally been known for supplying branded toiletries and other household consumer goods. However, we wanted to ensure we offer a broad range of brands and product categories.”

Alcoholic lines being stocked by Pricecheck include VK, Stella Artois and Guinness. Further brands are being introduced over the coming months.
