Parfetts has 60 Go Local stores within first year of Birmingham opening

Parfetts has marked the first anniversary of its Birmingham depot by reaching the milestone of 60 Go Local stores in the region.

The Birmingham-based team of retail development advisors has grown to 10 to support further expansion.

Parfetts is celebrating the milestone with a Birmingham Birthday Bonanza trade week that features promotional offers on 742 lines across all categories. The promotion runs from 14 to 20 April.

Commenting on the milestone, Guy Swindell, joint managing director of Parfetts, said: “The success of the Birmingham depot has exceeded all expectations. The experienced team focused on building footfall before rolling out our delivered offer, which extends the reach of the business across the Midlands and down the M40 into Gloucestershire.

“Go Local gives customers access to a wide range of support, including store development advice and, just as importantly, the best prices and margins.”

The 100,000 sq ft depot gives retailers access to a variety of frequent promotions, such as trade weeks that support key events and trading periods throughout the year. It also offers weekly manager’s specials and one-day promotions, alongside regular promotions that provide access to over 140 promotional lines, every day low priced (EDLP) lines every three weeks, and a fast-growing own-label range.

Parfetts operates depots in Aintree, Anfield, Birmingham, Halifax, Middlesbrough, Sheffield, Somercotes and Stockport. Its operations cover Northumberland to Wales, the Midlands and Northamptonshire.

The company supports over 1,300 retailers through its Go Local and The Local fascia group and operates a retail club with over 5,000 members.

Swindell concluded: “As the Birmingham depot continues to grow, it underlines the strength of our employee-ownership-based model, which allows us to reinvest back into the service and value we provide to our customers.”

Parfetts announced a 6.7% rise in turnover to £646 million and a 51% increase in operating profits to £8.5 million in the last financial year. The profits will be invested back into the business with the continued expansion of its delivery network, depot operations and symbol estate.
