A new buying group – UniCo – is launched

A new buying group – UniCo Food Group – has been launched.

The members-owned buying group is ‘dedicated to revolutionising the fast-food and quick service restaurant (QSR) industry. The UniCo name stands for United Cooperative Food Group.

With a collective turnover of £500 million, the membership comprises Giro Foods, The Pentagon Food Group, Fresco Food Service Glasgow, Major Foods, N&B Foods Swindon, Euro Food Group, Eagle Foods, and MS Foods in Luton.

According to UniCo, its attributes include:

• National distribution capability

• 2000 suppliers offering a wide range of products

• 400 multi-temperature vehicles

• 20 Regional Distribution Centres, strategically located for optimal coverage

• 15,000 pallet cold storage

• 150,000 pallet ambient storage:

• 1.2 million sq ft warehouse space among the membership

Headed up by Ash Khan, CEO of the Pentagon Food Group, UniCo is encouraging other independent food wholesalers to sign up. “Join UniCo and experience the unparalleled benefits of being part of the UK’s leading fast-food and QSR focused buying group,” says a spokesperson for the organisation. “Together, we are set to achieve new heights and redefine the industry standards.”
