Parfetts encourages retailers to score with the Rugby World Cup
Parfetts is encouraging retailers to take advantage of the sales opportunities created by The Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in France on 8 September.
The wholesaler’s current trade week – running until 9 September – is loaded with beer offers to help retailers maximise their margins.
According to industry data from Asahi, the 2015 Rugby World Cup held in England saw an uplift in beer sales of 4% in value over the previous year. For rugby fans, beer is the number one choice of beverage (60% choose beer), with lager the most popular beer type (BrandTrack).
Jamie Ferguson, head of marketing at Parfetts, said: “The Rugby World Cup is an incredible opportunity for our retailers. It will drive increased beers, wines & spirits sales, with a focus on beers. We understand the importance of chilled, ready-to-drink beers for convenience and offer a wide range at industry-leading prices.
“Over 70% of rugby fans plan to watch the games at home, so ensuring sufficient stock of popular brands is key. We have secured fantastic promotional offers on a wider range of beers, with the largest POR on Asahi at 42.5% (12 x 620ml).”
The offers also include Stella Pints at 26.1% POR, Desperado 3 x 330ml at 28%, and Carling 10 x 440ml at 30.7%.
