Blakemore Wholesale has appointed Paul Rabone as operations director for its 14 cash & carries, marking a return to the company he left in 1987 prior to spending 28 years with Bestway Group.

Rabone originally started work at Blakemore’s Walsall cash & carry in 1980 aged 17. He left the company seven years later.

At Bestway, he held a series of senior posts, including six years as general manager of Batleys’ Birmingham branch, trading manager for the central buying, stockholding and sales development team and, most recently, group catering controller.

Rabone commented: “I am excited to be returning to a family-run business, particularly one for which I have always had a soft spot.”
