Perfetti Van Melle has launched Mix of Minis, 200-piece boxes of individually-wrapped miniature formats of Fruittella, Mentos and Chupa Chups.
Perfetti Van Melle recommends that the individual pieces are sold at 15p each or as part of a ‘4 for 50p’ promotion.
The company hopes that the new format helps retailers add growth back to the category after over 80% of independent retailers said they had removed unwrapped confectionery following the pandemic (independent field research).
With the individual pieces containing as few as 38 calories, the new Mix of Minis also cater to health-conscious consumers who want to enjoy confectionery without committing to larger sticks, rolls or lollipops.
Cardboard shelf-ready packaging has been designed to create strong shelf standout and is fully recyclable, making waste disposal straightforward and eco-friendly for store owners.
In addition, Mix of Minis trays will be added to Perfetti Van Melle’s loyalty scheme this year for new and existing members, and the company aims to site and signpost the NPD in 5,000 stores by the end of 2021.
Sarah Elmer, brand manager, says: “Our new Mix of Minis range was launched to help retailers reinvigorate pick & mix offerings after a tough year for unwrapped confectionery by offering fantastic value for money in a vibrant, innovative format. We work to continuously provide more ways for shoppers to enjoy our brands that they know and love.
“We’re also looking to build on the great progress we’ve made in our sustainable journey following our Fruittella plastic-saving initiative earlier this year. The fully recyclable product packaging means we’re able to continue to deliver on our commitment to becoming a more sustainable supplier whilst still maintaining the high product quality our customers have come to expect from us.”
